There are so many mixed feelings on this. My coach Mike Shanahan was the guy who kinda started all this. It worked pretty well for him. And if you look at the Broncos first game this year vs the LA Chargers, Coach Joesph calling the time out lead to the next attempt being blocked for the win. 

But most NFL caliber kicker shouldn't be affected. I agree a little with you. It almost becomes like a free practice kick.
