REMEMBER THE TITANS
Dec 17, 2017 11:45AM
I have great memories of my first start in Candlestick for the 49ers and it came against a really good Tennessee Titan football team. That day couldn’t have went any better for me, threw for 2 scores, ran for another in a solid win and my introduction to the 49er fans.
I would have thought that this would be the continuation of great things that season for the 49ers as I was having to step in for Steve Young. Well, that quickly ended with us struggling the remainder of the season and the Titans going on to the Super Bowl that year.
Fast forward to 2017, the Titans are coming in with a chance to be a playoff team. This will be the first game that Jimmy will start against a team with a winning record. The Titans are solid on defense and possess a good running game along with a bright, very active young QB of their own in Marcus Mariota. This will be a great challenge for the 49ers against a playoff caliber team but not a team that is dominant, they’re very beatable and I expect the 49ers to be able to compete well against them.
The 49ers have been good against the run this year, where they have struggled is rushing and containing the passer. This will be a key in getting off the field and giving Jimmy an opportunity to build on his consistency and productions as the leader on the field. We are still looking for Carlos Hyde and that ground game to find themselves and help the passing game out. This falls on the OLine coming together and doing what they need to do.
Until later, let’s have a great game today. Go Niners!
