He already said what he said. Now everybody knows exactly how he feels. He can backtrack any way he wants. The last thing he should be commenting on is contracts, even if it’s on his mind, which is completely understandable. 

And people wonder why Belichick keeps a tight lip on all his players, especially during a playoff run. You can think about it, but don’t talk about it (until the time is right)
