It’s water under the bridge now and the NFC Championship game is set but let’s talk about something from the Viking-Saints game. As Diggs scored his miraculous TD, he stood in the end zone and threw his helmet in celebration, that reaction received a flag thrown by the back judge, who ducked to avoid the helmet hitting him.

The question is, does that allow the Saints to accept the penalty on the next live play, which would have been the kickoff, which would have given them one last play and a prayer to score? Did the refs blow this call allowing the game to come to an end instead of forcing the Saints out of the locker room telling them they have a chance for one last play after a penalty enforcement on the kickoff?

My understanding is that it would be the choice of the Saints as to whether accept on the extra point or the kickoff but I could be wrong. Who knows the answer? I have not heard anyone talk about this possibility.
