You know, JG, I didn't know about that excessive celebration at the end of that miraculous play by Diggs. I was so focused on how unbelievable the game turned out to be.

Your insight is sound. I'm no expert but as with any penalty, the team in this case Saints, should have been offered a chance to accept the penalty on the next play. Maybe a few seconds wouldve been added to the time? Again, everyone especially Saints, were in such a state of shock of what happened and no one really paid special attention to the penalty. That's too bad.
