Thats a great question. I do believe drafting Mahomes has lit a bit of a fire under Alex Smith. But I also believe, this is the best talent that Smith has ever had around him. Travis Kelce is the best tight end in the NFL in my opinion. Tyrick Hill is the  best speed receiver in the game, and is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball. You can use Hill in so many different ways, even as a decoy. The rookie running back Hunt is the rookie of the year so far. I know Andy Reid didn't expect him to had this big of an impact on the Chiefs offense. 

All that being said, I also believe the offensive coordinator is finally opening up the offense for Alex Smith. Allowing him to push the ball down the  field for BIG plays. Something that been missing from Smith's game his entire career.
