I think the reason why Joe Thomas endorsed bringing back Hue Jackson was because there were questions if he will return next season vs. retiring. I could be wrong, but if Joe wasn’t a fan of keeping Hue who is 1-31 over the last two seasons, and the Browns were insistent on bringing him back, it would be more likely that he would retire.

I personally, like the way the Patriots handle this type of stuff. Granted, plenty of teams talk to the media about issues like this and they win and everything is just fine. I feel any second a player wastes time worrying or answering about something that he has no control over is takes away from the reason he is actually there ... to win football games. 

I do like how players use their platform to raise awareness though. I just think when it comes to a trade, a coaching hire, a firing it’s just best not to comment because the media will find a way to create the story of the day.
