I 100% percent agree with you and I think your key words are "first time offender". Although it was a vicious hit by Trevathan, he is not a vicious player and his prior history has been squeaky clean. Typically each suspension/offense is supposed to be heard on its own merit without consideration of prior history but it is clear that priors came into play here and I think it was warranted!
