Home of the 1985 Super Bowl Champions

Saw the Thursday nite game and the huge hit by Bears LB Danny Trevathan on Devante Adams.  Hopefully, Adams will recover quickly and resting next 10 days should help.  NFL suspended Trevathan for 2  games even though he has no history of "bad" hits.  I try to refrain from terming it a vicious hit because that seems to infer intent to maim.

Even though the league wants to make a point of emphasis on player safety, especially concerning head trauma, I think 2 games is excessive.  That's 1/8 of his salary and he has no history or rep for dirty hits.  A one game suspension for a 1st offense would seem to lend itself to a progrssive discipline based on severity and player history.  The league can't truly gauge player intent but the other items could be standads for future consideration.

Thoughts?
